I didn’t post an entry at the fifteen week point because it felt like nothing much had happened, other than what I’d already posted. The last week has, however, been a bit more eventful.
Firstly, my stomach seems to be resolving itself into a pregnant belly. This is a very good thing. I’m sick of feeling like I look fat and very happy to look pregnant. This is also a signal that it won’t be long before I need to overhaul my wardrobe and invest in some pregnant clothes. These won’t necessarily be maternity clothes - they might just be stretchy things a size or two larger than I would normally wear - but they will be clothes bought specifically to wear during the pregnancy and to never see the light of day again after the baby is born.
Secondly, I got a letter from the Royal Women’s last week telling me that the blood test they did when I was there showed that I am iron deficient. It was a little galling, since I had the same issue last year, but a good thing to know all the same. I had been starting to get a bit worried about how tired I was and wondering when I was going to get the second trimester kick along. I started iron tablets the day I got the letter so it shouldn’t be long before I don’t feel like I’m dying of fatigue at the end of every day.
Finally, Finn caught chicken pox. Although I was 99% certain I’d had them as a kid, I had to have a blood test to confirm that as, if I hadn’t, there was a possible risk to the baby. The results came back positive for the antibodies, so it was nice to have my recollection confirmed.
