In Leila’s Room

I was feeling pretty tired today, but I managed to make some progress in getting Leila’s room organised. I’ve removed most of the obvious non-Leila related items so that it looks less like a junk room. I also did a final sort of the clothes.
It’s safe to say that I have most definitely overshopped for Leila. I knew I had, but when I saw all the stuff I’ve bought laid out with the old things of Finn’s I was planning to reuse I realised just how much over the top I’d gone. She has more clothes than Finn, Mark & I combined and that’s saying something - particularly when you consider how many tshirts Finn and Mark each own.
The upside of this is that I’ve done a really serious cull of Finn’s old stuff since a lot of it isn’t needed any more. Some of it will be listed on eBay and quite a lot will also go to charity. I also realised that I no longer need to hang on to Finn’s clothes in case we need them again. This is a real relief. I can see a day ahead when I won’t have bags and bags of kids clothes stuffed into wardrobes. There’ll be some of Finn’s stuff that can be handed down to Leila, but there’ll also be a lot that doesn’t need to be kept. The same goes for toys. I can’t wait to dig through all the old toys out in the garage and work out what stays and what goes. I can see the day ahead when we might actually be able to put a car in our garage again. What a novel idea!
The major work in Leila’s room now lies in putting up blinds and curtains and cleaning the junk out of the wardrobe. These are things that I need at least some assistance from Mark to achieve so they’ll have to wait until he has the energy to help me. But that’s fine. I don’t expect them to take all that long to do and, once we get into them, they should be fairly simple tasks - fingers crossed.
