The Princess and The Poo

Leila hadn’t pooed for a couple of days (which is quite OK for a breastfed baby) so I probably shouldn’t have been surprised when she started to defecate as I opened her nappy the other day. But I was.
I waited for her to finish, then wiped her bum and removed the soiled nappy. I was a little hasty, though. There was more to come. Much more.
Leila continued to poo for a good ten minutes. Every now and then she would stop. I would assume she was finished and clean her up, only to have her start again. I have no idea where she’d been hiding it, but she produced a veritable mountain of poo.
Each time she caught me unprepared and, as a result, we managed to get poo on her jumpsuit, a couple of nappies, a nappy cover, a towelling nappy I put under her to protect the change mat cover, a towel I put under her to protect the change mat cover and the change mat cover. I also used about 10 baby wipes in my efforts to clean both of us up between spurts (because that’s what little baby poo does).
In amongst all this pooing I also learned a valuable lesson. Parents of boys learn very quickly about being squirted. I found out that girls can do it too. My dressing gown has been washed twice in as many days, which is unheard of. The first time was due to a combination of baby spew and snot and the second a liberal spraying of baby wee.
Keep all of this in mind as you watch that cute video. The child is a neverending supply of bodily secretions. How cute does she look now?
