Leila is not yet up to sitting up which makes sense since she is not up to rolling over yet. Mind you once she rolls it’s a rapid race through sitting, crawling, walking, talking and then talking constantly.
All the same when she sits in her little seat (more like a lying down and being raised a bit) she seems quite determined to sit herself up.
I have a feeling she is in a hurry to catch up with Finn.
While it seems like Leila is only days old she is really four whole months old and no longer a little baby. These days she is quite interested in who is coming and going, chewing her hands, and lots of smiles to encourage people to talk to her.
She is, in short, entirely lovely and getting lovelier by the day.
When we saw the Maternal and Child Health nurse on Wednesday I had to admit that we didn’t do much tummy time with Leila. I just never seem to think of it during the day. Fortunately Leila held her head up really well when she was placed on her tummy so I didn’t look like a completely negligent mother.
We had a quiet moment this morning so I popped the Little Princess on her tummy for a bit to see how she went. As you can see, she did pretty well. I haven’t posted the ugly, falling on her face photos, though. The really good thing is that when I sat behind her and called her name Leila almost rolled over. I don’t think it’ll be long before she actually manages it.
On another positive note, all the exercise on the floor must be good for the bowels because Leila had a huge pooey nappy straight after.
Yesterday Miss Leila Rose took the time to call upon Miss Drew Elizabeth. She took her parents with her since someone has to drive the car, carry the bag and so on …
It was the first time we’d seen Leila with a younger baby and she looked terribly grown up and huge. At 7 weeks Drew is on the cusp of all the things Leila has done recently - smiling, vocalising, shoving toys in her mouth.
The 12 week age difference seems huge right now, but in a few months it will seem much smaller and in a year or so it will be of no consequence at all.
The Little Princess has been having poo issues mainly to do with the lack thereof. However a combination of prune juice and other measures meant that she is well and truly back in the game which is good to know (if more than a little messy).
Leila has a lovely fluffy white coat that she wears when it is cold outside. It makes her twice as big but also even cuter (if that is possible).
Aside from her marshmallowness she is becoming much more interested in the world and quite vocal. She is getting all grown up so very fast.
